14 Rooftops to Celebrate the Season in New York

Rooftop season is officially here and with the weather heating up, the time has finally come to enjoy transitioning into the summer of our lives. Check out some of our favorite rooftops in New York

Ainslie
@ainsliebkny
Chef John DeLucie and lead pizzaiolo Erasmo ‘Mino’ Lassandro offer a tasty menu of wood-fired pizzas, pastas, free range chicken, NY Strip Steak, Atlantic Salmon and Wood Fired Rosemary Wings. They just unveiled a new rooftop with 26 seats in addition to having 36 seats on the sidewalk and 50 seats in their backyard garden for options aplenty.

Ampia Rooftop
@ampiarooftop
A modern Mediterranean inspired bi-level venue with classic Italian dishes, providing a much needed escape from the chaotic FiDI below. With gorgeous floral decor draped across this expansive FiDi rooftop and a stunning art mural by OGMillie, guests are instantly transported to an oasis where you can expect an extensive array of cocktails and a delicious menu filled with authentic Italian cuisine. Guests have the option to dine in greenhouses in the sky, individual colorful villages or in open air.

Sweeping views of New York with Mexican bites served by Chef Saul Montiel and a climate-controlled retractable glass rooftop.

@thecrownnyc
The first New York outpost for Joie de Vivre boutique hotels is nested in between Chinatown, Little Italy and the Lower East Side for a unique and authentic city experience. Uniquely located by the Manhattan Bridge, check out 50 Bowery's own rooftop called The Crown for truly distinct views of the city from a Southern tip.

Fornino @forninopizza With views of the Statue of Liberty, Michael Ayoub's wood-fired pizzas, salads and sandwiches are a treat to year long stays in the city. Fornino has their seasonal rooftop and restaurant open at Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park for diners to take in summer sunsets with wood-fired pizzas, salads and sandwiches and drinks of all kinds.

The Glass Ceiling Rooftop
@thenomadhotel
The Glass Ceiling is just that, a beautiful retractable glass ceiling sitting atop the city skyline. The space is multi-dimensional transforming daily from a communal workspace to a lounge with light bites and cocktails to an intimate, curated events space. Featuring indoor and outdoor seating, show-stopping views of the Empire State Building, and an escape from your everyday urban routine. The name ‘the glass ceiling’ is a metaphor that has long been used to represent the invisible barriers that prevent women and underrepresented communities from rising beyond a certain level in a hierarchy.

Located above the Sanctuary Hotel, in Midtown is a perennial favorite. Haven offers delicious food including sliders, tuna tartare, and Buffalo wings, Branzino and Steak Au Poivre with peppercorn sauce. Pair that with a Cloudtini or summer sangria for a truly elevated experience.

It's all year rooftop season going strong throughout New York! This seasonally themed rooftop bar at the Moxy Time Square can easily transform from Barbie pink neon pink log walls, faux pink taxidermy, and more ski themed items to floral spaces for spring and summer. Plus, there's hot pink cocoa to match!

Think pink! This pink rooftop oasis is 7 floors above ground in the Lower East Side, with pink couches to dance to pink lights during a pink sunset. Lots of Instagram moments with a pink retro phone and a custom geo Instagram filter.

The fun rooftop in the Lower East Side is known for a Veuve Clicquot après-ski lodge in the sky, decorated with purple deer heads, digital fireplaces and a life-size snow globe. On top of Hotel Indigo’s 15th floor, this spot also has a co-working space right below it, as well as cold pressed juices with a view.

@thereadyrooftop
Ready for The Ready? At the Moxy Hotel East Village and inspired by a casual backyard garden in the East Village, the rooftop has a retractable glass roof for all year access. For Instagrammers there's a hand painted mural, and for playing around is a beer pong table that serves as a communal table.

@sandbarrooftop
Experience a beach escape for all seasons in the heart of the Fashion District at Sandbar Rooftop. Located on the 23rd floor of the Hilton, Sandbar’s Hamptons beach décor features whimsical touches such as lifeguard chairs, hanging lounges, and swings created from reclaimed wine barrels. The signature handcrafted cocktail list is designed by Sandbar's house mixologist.

The Sentry
@thesentrynyc
The Sentry is the rooftop you'll need a connection to get into, atop the iconic American Copper Buildings. This amenity driven private social club made for those who move, make, create and shake things up a bit is accepting applications this year.

Sushi Lab
@sushilab.nyc
Intimacy at its finest. Hoteliers Hank and Brandon Freid took their indoor, intimate dining experience at The Sanctuary Hotel to the roof. Plus, inventive takes on sushi are always welcome from Executive Chef Frankie Chen in a gorgeous leaf-filled, canopied rooftop setting. The restaurant features Japanese small plates, along with creative Nigiri, Sashimi and Maki sushi. Of course the star of the show is their omakase experience, utilizing only the freshest ingredients.
